KIDS HAPKIDO
Kids are taught a similar version of the HapKiDo syllabus to the Adults, the main difference being less self defence techniques and some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques. The reason is that children do not have the same capacity for learning intricate techniques as those needed for self defence moves.
The kids syllabus includes a small portion of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques, these techniques are not as intricate as those in the self defence section and offer kids the chance to have a bit of fun at the end of class by wrestling the other kids. This also helps them become accustom to staying safe or switching the situation to gain an advantage on the ground, which may assist in a real life self defence situation.
Almost every belt level consists of the same categories of techniques.
Hand techniques
- Open and closed hand strikes
Falls
Self Defence
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
- Controlling ground positions
It takes time and patience for children to achieve any level in HapKiDo, it’s not easy and takes many years of hard training, dedication and commitment. Those who stay committed are rewarded by accomplishing techniques that were previously unobtainable.
Children are encouraged to excel in all areas of life, including school and other sporting arenas by bringing in certificates, medals and trophies to show their achievements to all the others kids in the class.
